Welcome to the cockpit. Hopefully you will find this to be valuable resource covering various aspects of rider safety, motorcycle safety, general motorcycle craft and information about traffic laws and DOT regulations. What is a !!DA!! ?
Simple it’s a disclaimer alert where I place a little notice about what an article, suggestion, or piece of advice is not intended to be, or to put it another way – me covering my ass!.
What will you cover?
Anything you want! I will take suggestions, requests and questions, plus I will throw in some stuff because I thought it was cool, clever, interesting or someone outside the chapter made me aware of something of interest.
How do you make a suggestion?
The Forum… oh yer you have to be a member, then just post your suggestion, etc. under the General discussion.
In Person… yep you have to ride at least occasionally to do this so get on your bike and come out.
Email… if you must, but via the forum is better as it lets everyone know to watch for a response here.
Where does the information come from?
Great question, well first me I have over 1 million miles on a bike, friends who are motorcycle instructors, very experienced riders, law enforcement, enthusiastic nuts who learned the hard way, and last but not least you.
Plus the occasional “cut and paste” when something really good pops up, we will “borrow” articles from motorcycle magazines.
What’s not covered?
Non motorcycle stuff, how to perform stunts on a motorcycle, fashion (I don’t care what color bandana is the latest craze it should be under your helmet anyway), or extensive in depth motorcycle maintenance.
What if I don’t agree with you?
Be my guest, I am not too old to learn. But bring information to back it up because the way I look at safety is, myths, legends and old wife’s tales cause more harm than good.
