SCRC West Palm Beach Chapter # 456
Mileage Program Guidelines
Miles are awarded to chapter members to recognize their continued participation in the activities of the chapter. These are not part of any competition other than to claim bragging rights. There is no chapter status associated with miles awarded other than the right to wear a rocker indicating the number of miles achieved.
Ok so how do I get miles?
- Scheduled Club Rides. Rides appearing on the chapter website calendar and/or emailed to the membership. For a Scheduled Club Ride we will award club miles regardless of the number of riders. However there must be one Officer or Road Captain present (they are responsible for determining the mileage and have the ride waivers). All riders must be present at the meeting point and sign the ride waiver to be credited miles for that ride.
- Pick-up Rides. Any member can post a Pick-up ride on the forum. To qualify for miles, there must be a minimum of 2 chapter members plus 1 officer or Road Captain (they are responsible for determining the mileage and have the ride waivers) riding motorcycles to qualify for club miles. These rides must be posted on the forum a minimum of 24 hours in advance to allow other members a chance to participate. All riders must be present at the meeting point and sign the ride waiver to be credited miles for that ride. No rides should be posted on a day that will conflict with a Scheduled Club Ride without first being cleared with an Officer of the chapter.
- Overnight rides. These rides appear on the ride calendar and are organized with the knowledge of or by the chapter officers. If a member wants to suggest an overnight ride, the member should discuss the ride with the chapter officers. In order to obtain ride miles for an overnight right an officer (or specifically designated Road Captain) must be present on the ride. A local "Scheduled Club Ride" ride may also be scheduled for those members not attending the overnight.
- State Rallies and other recognized events. The Southern Cruisers Riding Club encourages multi-chapter gatherings and participation in recognized motorcycle events. We realize that not all members can or want to ride a long distance as a single run to attend an event, or are able to leave when the main group is leaving. As such, we’ve amended the 2 members plus 1 officer or Road Captain on motorcycles policy. We will award club mileage to ALL members regardless of when they go or how many others travel with them, to those attend a recognized event. Such events may include Florida State Rally, Leesburg Bike Fest, Daytona Bike week, Biketoberfest, SCRC National Rally, etc. and will be posted on the chapter website ride calendar. However mileage will only be given for miles completed on a motorcycle. ("Trailer", "Train", "back of a pick-up or van", or other non- motorcycle ridden miles will not count)
- Membership meetings. We will award 50 club miles to all members who sign in at a club meeting.
How miles are counted.
We give "round trip" miles defined as; the miles accumulated to the last destination of the ride plus the return trip miles. The return trip mileage will always be counted as the mileage taken to return home by the Road Captain leading the return leg of the ride, regardless of the route you take home or how many members ride together unless the entire group is returning together.
Joining a ride in progress.
If you are unable to make a ride meeting point for the start of the ride, you must contact an officer or the Road Captain leading the initial leg of the ride for information about the groups timing at specific points along the route.
You are welcome to join the ride at an agreed to location. However, you will not receive miles for the ride.
Also if you are not at the agreed location at the agreed time the group will not wait.
Leaving a ride in progress.
If you are unable to complete the entire ride you must notify an officer or the Road Captain leading the ride and arrange to leave the ride at a specific point on the ride.
If you start the return trip with the group but depart along the way you will be awarded round trip miles.
If you leave the ride prior to reaching the last destination you will only be awarded one way miles to the point at which you left the ride.
However, if you leave a ride before completing 50 miles, at any point other than the agreed to point, or you fail to arrange when you will be leaving the ride you will not be awarded miles for the ride.
Amendments.
These guidelines can and will be amended from time to time as necessary by the officers of the chapter.
The Final Word.
The 1st Officer has it, their decision on number of miles, what is a recognized event, etc. is final.
